Adoption Process

When you find an animal that interests you, feel free to contact us with any questions about that animal. We want you to be fully informed when you adopt animal so it will be a good and lasting match.

All potential adopters are required to complete our Pre-Adoption Questionnaire and return it to us before moving forward in the adoption process.

We are looking for loving, stable and permanent homes for our animals. That is very important to us.

Once we approve your Questionnaire, we will contact you and set up an appointment to meet the animal you are interested in. Please note that having an appointment does not hold the animal. If you want to make sure the animal is held for you to meet, you must leave a deposit.

When you come meet the animal you are interested in, we will observe your interaction with that animal. We will provide feedback if we think it is, or is not a good fit. If we have any concerns we might ask to do a home check, speak to your landlord and/or meet other members and pets in the household.

If all goes well, we will have you complete an adoption contract, committing to care for and keep the animal forever. We will take payment of the adoption fee by cash or card. We will provide you with a summary of the animal’s health, and provide vet records. And then, the animal can go home with you!

Our adoption fees are:

DOGS & PUPPIES: $250
CATS & KITTENS: $150

Fees include up to date vaccinations, spay/neuter, and parasite control.

If there are multiple applications for the same animal, we will make the final selection in the best interest of the animal, and that adopter will be required to pay an adoption deposit, and processed with the adoption promptly.

If the animal is too small or too young to be safely spayed/neutered at the time of adoption, the adopter must commit in writing to either bring them back to us by appointment when they are old enough for spay/neuter by our vet, at our expense, or to have the procedure done at their own vet, at the same age, at their own expense, and provide proof of spay/neuter to Animal Refugee Response.

Adoption fees are not refundable. Adoption fees are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
